Danielle Fogerty's thoughts:

I so thoroughly enjoyed this race. You get to run into Canada and then underwater back to the US, let me tell you about it

The expo was nice, smaller but still had a good amount to see and do. Lots of cool stuff to buy as well. Getting your number and swag was easy and well marked, due note, if you are running the full or the international half, you have to bring the proper ID with you to get your bib, you also must have that ID with you for the race.

Race morning was pretty good, finding bag drop off was fairly easy and they had plenty of volunteers running it so it went quickly. Getting to the corral was easy and very well marked. The give you 2 minutes between each corral so you are not super squished by people when you take off. At mile 3 you start to run up and over the Ambassador Bridge, which is the biggest hill in the race and you are now on your way to Canada. Do know there are Border Agents out watching, and you should not wear a water pack as they might pull you out to check it over, so just save yourself the troubles and don't bring one. Also, you get to watch the sun rise as you run over the bridge which is amazing. Once you are in Canada, you run a few miles there, until it is time to go back to the US and you run in the tunnel, to get back, so you run under water...cool right. At the end of that, the Border Agents are cheering you on and giving out high 5s. You then head off through downtown and through many other parts of Detroit. People are out cheering you one, and there is music through out the race as well. The water stations are well stocked with plenty of volunteers to hand out water and gatorade. You then get to run on Belle Isle and along the Detroit River Front and man the views are amazning. After then you turn back into downtown Detroit and get to the finish.

I really enjoyed the race, it was well run, everything seemed to go very smoothly. And running into Canada and back is just a really cool experience you can't get any where else. Also FREE RACE PHOTOS!!!
