The Christmas In July 5K is a race that is organized by the Houston Salvation Army. It is truly a quick out and back course that supports a great cause. While the race itself is small, they do an excellent job managing the event. The parking is close to the start/finish line and it's free! You receive a race t shirt as well as a nice finisher's medal.
The course is run through the streets of Downtown/Midtown with police officers on every corner. You will run a bit through residential areas but the course is clearly marked so it's hard to take a wrong turn. The volunteers this year were wonderful and made every effort for a great race!
The post race festivities were close to the start/finish line and it was very easy finding your race results. After the race, there were tables handing out warm breakfast tacos as well as coffee, fruit, snacks, and Kind bars. There were more than enough goodies for every participant and various of other fun vendors as well! This is definitely a race I recommend to anyone looking for a fun theme race!
