Sarah 's thoughts:

This was the first year that they had a 1 mile race as part of the Carlsbad 5000. The course was fast, although it did have a very small incline. Nothing major but it is not completely flat. I loved the 1-mile race distance, it is not very common. Paying to run 1 mile could be a turn off, but it was priced very reasonably and you got a great experience, it was definitely worth it.

This race was part of the Junior Carlsbad 5000. The morning is all kids races ranging from 1/4 mile to 1 mile. The adults 1 mile race was run in one heat and started at 9:15. It was easy to get there and pick up your bib number ahead of time. They asked people to line up based on how fast they thought they could run 1 mile. The time limit was 30 minutes, so you could walk if you wish. We were off and the finish line came before I knew it. They had all the goodies at the finish line like they have at longer races. We even got a medal and a tech t-shirt!!

This was tons of fun and I highly recommend. Great way to see how fast you can run a mile or just get out there with some friends.
