What can I possibly say about Broad Street that hasn't been said before? It's considered one of the best races in the country, and with good reason. As the largest 10 miler in the US, it attracts runners if all levels to participate in the run down Broad Street!

The expo at the Convention Center is chaotic but wonderful. It's crowded but as organized as it can be, and it feels like you're at an expo for something much larger than a 10-miler. The expo is huge, taking up the an entire expo hall at the convention center. The corral leading you into the expo is where you'll pick up your swag back - a t-shirt along with a booklet of info for race day and a handful of coupons and offerings for future races and other discount codes.

As far as getting to the race, plan this carefully if you are from out of town. The start can be hectic and taking the subway can be an absolute disaster if you don't time it right. We typically park at FDR park in South Philly (closer to the finish line) and take either a school bus shuttle (circling the park) or the subway to the start line. The subway is INCREDIBLY crowded and many times it will stop without enough room for people to get on -- if you can get on a shuttle, do that!

The run is iconic, so expect the best - spectators line the street from start to finish, so you're never without a cheering crowd. There are port-a-potties all along the course in case you need to stop. DJs, local bands, high school bands, and more come out to provide a soundtrack.

The beginning of the race is very congested due to the size of the race, so don't be too discouraged if you're playing frogger for the first mile or so. I always try to use this run as a fun experience, and if I PR or have a great time that's just an added bonus.

The finish line features a chute where you're corraled into a section for food. Medals are also handed out at this time.

I highly recommend this run for runners of all levels with all different goals - it's an amazing experience from start to finish!
