I signed up for this race as it was in the area that I was vacationing in over Memorial Day, and I couldn't wait to add Florida to my "I've raced in this state" list! I'll break down my thoughts into sections:

Parking/ Packet Pick Up: I went the morning of, and arrived about 30 minutes before the race. Parking was right next to the starting line, and about a 2 minute walk from the packet pick up. So convenient! The only "swag" was the race shirt, which was a great tank top. It ran a little small this year, but is new balance. It was simple and I loved it.

STARTING LINE: The race wasn't that big, so there were no corrals. The race started at 7:30, which on the one hand was annoying as it made for an early morning, but on the other hand I would've appreciated an even earlier start time due to the heat (it was in the 80s with high humidity during the race).

RACE COURSE: FLAT FLAT FLAT and in a park with a baseball diamond, pool, and a few trails. Some was on a paved trail through "woods" and some was through a parking lot. It was beautiful to run through though because it was all under palm trees, which isn't a typical tree I run past. I loved it. There was one water station half way through. I can't speak to that because I carried a hand held due to the heat.

FINISH LINE: They had an official course clock and finish line, which was fun for "only" a 5k. They had run out of water when we first crossed the finish line, and that was disappointing. They got more water, but I'm not sure where it was from because it was warm. That's not what I wanted since I was already hot and sweating due to the heat. They had mandarin oranges, protein bars, and pretzels which was nice. They also had a "gulf coast runners" background to take pictures on. Overall I enjoyed it.

PRICE: $18 - hard to beat that for a race!

The race was well organized and I loved it, especially for the price! Kicking off memorial day with a race was great :)
