This was a nice local 5k that benefited the art museum. Packet pick up was very easy and there were multiple days and locations to get your number. The shirts were in both men and women's cuts, which I appreciate.

The race was on the roads where you could see the mountains and water was provided every mile. Every finisher received a medal and chip timing was included on your bib.

This was a tough course. A lot of up hill, which you see on the elevation chart, but unless you've actually gone up the hills, its deceiving.

The race gave out nice lunch bags with a long sleeved, tech shirt when you picked up your bib. I went to get my bib the morning of, and they had a lot of the vendors already set up for the start/finish like activities. Since the race started at 9am, it was nice to not have to stay in a hotel the night before and not have to get up super early to get there.

The race was put together pretty well. There was no time limit, which I appreciated in the beginning but there wasn't a time limit because they didn't close any of the roads. There was traffic control for when you had to cross a busy street, but if you're running along, you have to pay close attention to traffic. The traffic also didn't seem too runner friendly and I had to step off the road more than a few times to avoid cars. The aid stations had water and electrolyte drink every 2 miles or so. If you're slow, like me, you may want to carry your own since toward the end the water was pretty warm. Also, the mile markers were a bit off and some of the miles weren't marked at all. It wouldn't have been a big deal if my gps watch hadn't decided to not work for me.

Overall, I think it was a well run race, they had adequate support and it takes place at a nice place where your support people have enough to do. At the finish line there was a beergarten and a food truck, which was neat. I would recommend this race as long as you make sure to do some hill work prior to, the hills are no joke!

I had a good experience at this race in general. This was my first big city race so I wasn't sure what to expect. Packet pick up was a breeze, the staff very accommodating and quick to get you your things and explain the timing tag. The expo was big and very crowded! Lots of companies giving away things if you were willing to wait in line to get your goodies.

The race itself was a shock to me. I'm used to small, local races, so standing along the street with 18,000 of my newest friends was a little different. I appreciated the wave start, but what I didn't really care for was that the corral moderators didn't move our group up fast enough and when our wave started, we were nowhere near the actual start line.

The race course was nice, we ran by a few LA land marks and if I had been running with someone, I'd probably had been more aware of the cool stuff and taken pictures. I tried to stick with a pace group but about 5k in, the pace group leader had to stop to use the restroom and I passed them. Somewhere along an out and back I found the pace group sign in a traffic cone, so that apparently went out the window.

The finish line area was kind of a nightmare. You had to walk a good ways to get out of the finishers area while people are handing you food items. A bag or a box would have been nice to have for all the goodies. Plus once you got to the end where you could meet your family, it seems to be where everyone stopped, so it was very congested.

Overall, I think it was a nice race. I think I'm glad I ran my first big city race with such an established race company.
