Another Keira Heninger race. Saturday March 5 2016 was the date for the full and the half. No expo but none needed. A fantastic tech tank for the ladies, fitted for us, and a men's tshirt, a custom coffee mug and a huge medal. Finishers of the full also received a solid stylish belt buckle. Well marked course, plenty of stocked aid stations with food as well as gels and fluids, and the happiest kindest crew and fellow runners. The half was easier than the half in November; less elevation drops, so I got a PR. Everything about this race is easy and fun. I will do it again and I am a total Keira convert and supporter.

Late start time for the half marathon, 820, but got there early to get my tshirt and bib, chat with friends. I would have preferred an earlier start time (6-630) cause it got hot, but it was nice to sleep in. The tshirt is super nice, soft material...you also have a choice of a tech style too. The medal is simple, but more than sufficient. The volunteers and staff are awesome; super kind and helpful. The course is TOUGH! Lots of elevation, changes from single track, sand, rocks and shale. There was one part that was a fire road, about 3-4 miles on it. Steady incline and kind of boring, but a great mental exercise to see if you can tough it out before you get back the the views, single track and breeze. And views are there! You can see Morro Bay with a 180 degree view and the bluffs are amazing. There are other distances too. Afterward, the crew is helpful with getting you set up with food and hydration. Got to visit with some friends...loved it.

I have run other Keira Henninger races and plan to continue with any race she directs. Leona Divide is no different and I will be back. On the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) out of either Lancaster/Palmdale area or Castaic/Santa Clarita area, it is an awesome trail race. The distances are 30k, 50k and 50 miler. Keira always provides a wonderful, caring experience. This is a family; a community. A cute tank and insulated lunch tote were the swag for this year and you also get a custom made and designed wood medal. Top 3 finishers for each race and gender get custom wood medals. They are AWESOME! And by racing, you get to hang out with some expert trail pros. Chills for days! The course is on the PCT and it was 18-19 miles of stunning views, single track trails and elevation for days. This is hard; it's trails and it is loads of hills. Be prepared! The aid stations are fully stocked with not just gels and electrolytes, but with food! Loads of delicious tasty actual food. Seriously you will have to prompt yourself to move on and not hang out eating and chatting with the friendly, helpful volunteers. After the race, Keira provides a lunch. This year was soup, chili, sandwiches and other treats. I hung out all day eating and chatting and watching all the other racers come in. Some amazing performances! If you love trails, this is for you.

This is a must race marathon, the whole weekend is amazing. This year's expo was well run, chock full of freebies and deals, I came away with lots of loot. The shuttles from Santa Monica to the start went so smoothly. I was amazed that such a large event was that easy. Starting line went well too and the race course is just the best ever, with the course taking us through all parts of LA. The crowds are amazing, lining the streets and offering food, drink and ice. The volunteers were kind and helpful and plenty of aid stations and port a potties and first aid. The finish line is at the Santa Moncia Pier. Ugh, yea, pretty fantastic, so much so I broke out in tears. The course was tough but not too hard. Always hot so prepare for that. The bag pick up was easy and if you stay in SM you are right near your hotel. It truly is a must do race

In November she has a half on Saturday and a 10k Sunday so you can earn a total of three medals. This is such a well run, fun and welcoming trail series. The half is hard, 5000 foot elevation changes, but if you walk parts, you'll be just fine. Plenty of course directions and helpers on the trail, tons of food before, during and after the race. Keira is amazing and I encourage you to do any of her races. The 10k is the next day in a different part of Griffith Park. Still hilly but not as much and again, a great crew. You get a tank for each day and three total medals which are huge and sturdy. She also has a half and full in March at Griffith Park which I recommend as well. These races are on my list each year now.
