From the start this race was disorganized... I signed up on the first day and there was issues. They forgot to put a size question for the race shirt, it would be months before I got to send an email (which I never knew if they got) to request my shirt size. One of the host hotels they offered was a "dump" that I am pretty sure I got bit by bed bugs. The Expo was in the Ron Jon parking lot was disorganized.... No one was given their bib numbers a head of time so we had to wait in a long line for someone to look up our bib numbers to then wait in another line to get our bibs, to then go to another line to get our shirt.
The race course was advertised as NO BEACH running yet a month before there was around 3 miles of beach running when the official course map was released. We had to take shuttles to get to the start which was an honor system based on pace determined what shuttle you got on. Race morning no one was there to tell runners to get on the correct shuttles.
The course was 1 lane of the A1A and with runners self seeding the congestion was horrendous. Junk miles making turns in parking lots to make sure we got the 13.1. The race started at 7:45am which if we had not had cloud cover would have seen more people dropping from heat stress. The late start was to coincide with the tides for the Beach portion. The access bridges where narrow and the soft back sand was annoying. The "hard pack" sand the race organizers said would be run-able were not.
Finish line was cute with the genie bottle and the pink sag carpet but that was it. When I finished they were out of bottles of ice tea, I got a cup of warm water, they just put a bunch of bottles of water on ice so that was warm too. Pizza was cold and beer line was 200 people deep. Honestly will never do this race again. The Medal was the best part of the race cause it is the bottle from I dream of Jeannie. But you can do the virtual option and skip all the headaches that was this race and get your bling on your own
