I know nothing about an expo - I'm expecting there probably wasn't one, this race is a small, low-key affair. The shirt and medal were both super cheap, nothing to be excited about there. The course has a few nice views of the lake, but is mostly rolling and winding through trees - it's quite lovely. The most impressive part of the race was the spread of food at the finish - a full on cookout with tons of food I tend to be back of the pack, and I've never SEEN so much food at a race finish. All in all, a very well run race with good scenery. If you like em small with not much care for swag, but want some good grub - this is the perfect race for you. Another interesting feature is the point to point course - we got a ride back to the start/parking on a school bus.

This race is a small affair hosted by an amazing local Race Director, Dori Ingalls. Dori is incredible because she really puts for the effort to connect and communicate with runners, on a personal level, and make sure their experience is a great one. The race itself is quite challenge as a course - very hilly. in 2012 (the only year I have run the event so far) I ran the half marathon, and although my time was close to my usual - my recovery felt much more challenging. Lots of uphill and flat until around mile 10, at which point there is a screaming downhill to mile 12, and flat to the finish. What a workout! But the views are incredible, you are really experiencing the "Mad River Valley" - in winter the saying is "Ski it if you can" Well - this race, run it if you can. Partly an indicator of the challenge, partly an endorsement to get out there and run it, if you can! Not much by way of spectators and aid stations are minimal, but you get to run over covered bridges, and also the finish is a great looking set up with a covered bridge style facade and flags. For post race refreshments you can look forward to Vermont products such as Apple Cider, Cider Donuts, Vermont Peanut Butter Company PB, and Cabot Cheese - as well as the usual runner fare. There are also food carts and a great atmosphere for any family who are waiting for you to finish, or in case you want something a little more substantial RIGHT AWAY. Not to mention the shirt and medal are top quality.

(Expo single star - preeeettty sure there's no expo... but if there was, I didn't go to one - I picked up my swag and bib race morning)
